A man sitting across a metal table in an interview room, lit by a single lamp.

Project Nobody

A woman is dead. Her ex-boyfriend is in custody on the strength of one threatening message. The file does not support the story everyone has already settled on.

Games

Everything Roomtoons is building. One is far enough along to show you. The rest are not ready to be named.

Project Nobody

An evidence-led detective game for phones. You do not pick a name out of a lineup. You build an explanation the evidence can carry.

Not announced

Project Nobody is the first game Roomtoons has built. It will not be the last. New titles land here when there is something worth looking at.

The Trailer

The workstation, the board above it, her phone on the desk, and the first interview where a story starts to come apart.

Inside the Game

No menus dressed up as furniture. Everything the game hands you is an object: on the desk, on the wall, or in your hand.

Scroll sideways
The workstation: a desk with an evidence log, a phone and a mug, under a cork board.
The workstation
Your desk at the end of a night shift. Everything you own in the case is on it or above it.
A cork board with the case file tray below it holding three paper items.
The board
Pin up the papers you could show somebody, then say what they prove. It judges the claim, not the hunch.
Maya's phone, extracted: Messages, Recent calls, Photos, Notes, Music, Calendar, Mail.
Her phone
A lawful extract, timestamped. You hold it and open her apps. There is no menu about the phone.
The message list on Maya's phone: Adam, Sam, Sarah and Mom.
The message thread
The thread that put a man in custody, read in the order it arrived, with the times beside it.
An incoming call on the desk phone from an unknown number.
The interruption
No caller ID, at your desk, in the middle of something else. You can let it ring.
The Project Nobody title screen: a hanging lamp lit over the game's name.
Case one
Before Charge. One lamp, and a file somebody has already written a conclusion on.

Locations

Every room in Project Nobody is photographed, lit once, and never tidied up for you. The walls shift against each other as you turn your head.

A door standing open onto a dark living room with one lamp lit.
Maya's apartmentWhere it happened, in seven views
A small bright kitchen with a calendar and a photograph on the fridge.
Adam's apartmentLit like nobody chose the light

A still from a gas station camera showing a man filling a car at night.

Play a Moment

The first thing the game asks you, with the answers it really gives. Two items are already in the file. Nothing is at stake here.

Case file, two items held Assessment, untimed
Item
The message thread
What he sent her that evening, in full, with the times it was sent and read.
Item
The gas-station record
A payment at a pump two blocks from her building, minutes after the message.

Compare the message thread and the gas-station record. What do these two items, together, establish?

A real connection is not the same as a full explanation.

The Studio

Roomtoons is an independent game studio. We make thriller games for iPhone and Android. Project Nobody is our first, and the way we are building it is the way we intend to keep building.

What we make

Thrillers, for the phone

Crime, suspicion, and the slow turn where a story stops holding together. We write them for the device the story is already happening on: portrait, one hand, a screen you are used to being lied to on. Nothing we ship is a cut down version of something that lives on a bigger screen.

How they play

You do the work

Our games hand you the material and then get out of the way. You read it, you ask about it, you decide what matters. Nobody steps in afterward to tell you what you just found, or whether you were clever to find it.

In your hands

Objects stay objects

You do not open a screen about the phone. You hold the phone, and the apps are on its screen. Paper is paper you flip through. The room stays behind whatever you pick up.

No lost threads

Nothing can be missed

Nothing is destroyed, nothing expires, no lead goes away for good. A question that gets refused is never spent. Our games can be slow. They cannot be failed by accident.

We are a small team and we build in house: the writing, the art, the code and the audio. That is why the rooms above are places rather than backdrops, and why a piece of evidence behaves the same whether you find it in hour one or hour six. Decide what is true about a place, build it so it holds up under someone looking closely, then let them find it instead of being told.

Content note. Project Nobody involves adult themes, stalking and harassment, a pregnancy, financial abuse of trust, and non-graphic homicide.
